2009

Well.. I'm sad that 2008 is leaving, just b/c it was a big year for all of us, we had a new baby, we did our first homebirth, our baby boy turned 3, we celebrated our first year anniversary, hubby and I did something new this year to build our marriage/relationship stronger, and created lots of good memories with our kids..Although I am looking forward to 2009 as I have some big new years resolutions to make.. I will post the goals later, I'm still thinking about them but the 2 biggest ones I have in mind right now is... reach my goal weight and start getting up 5-6am to have ME time and do housework while my kids are asleep. Also LESS computer time is a goal but I may have a hard time with that as the computer is my escape zone, but it is something i need to do so I can start preschool with Carson and more play time with my kids. I will make a list and post it on here! I am trying to decide if I should do what Katy is working on.. 101 goals in 1001 days.. I may just end up making a list for 2009 and do my best to accomplish them.. Still thinking!!! If anyone makes a list of goals for 2009, please let me know.. I'd love to read your goals! I promise I'll post my list sometime, i just need to sit down and think about them and write them down.. Also want to make a goal list with Alex and I for BOTH of us to accomplish together.. (i.e. pay off our debt together, make progress on our future home and so on... )

Happy New Year!!

I had to share!!

A distant relative(its my grandma's aunts great grandson.. get that? lol.) found me on facebook today. I checked my email and saw that i had a message from J.D.B and I had to think for a second there... "J....B...., who is that? Oh, i remember him! Wow, he found me, wonder what he's up to!?!" Its been YEARS since I've seen him.. He is deaf too... :) He has a cochlear implant as well and I knew he went to school for meteorologist and on his facebook acct, there is a link for deaf weather so i clicked on it, thinking oh thats cool, never seen that before.. It was HIM doing the weather in sign language.. How NEAT! I still cant get over it! He is the only deaf person in the nation doing the weather in sign language..

Check it out!

Looks different today than it did when i went home after haircut but i love it!

And i've just realized that my hair looks more like number 2, its cut like number 3 but the way i styled it today looks like number 2.. so good thing i got a good mix of 2 hair dos.. :)

HELP please!!

Have a hair appt today and need your opinion!! Tell me which hair cut/style I should do this time.. Kinda want to do a dramatic change but don't think i can do that yet.. Right now, hair is shoulder length and boring.. always pulled back b/c its the easier way to do it.. ;)

Can't wait for Christmas!

Christmas Traditions
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both
2. Real tree or Artificial? REAL = more Christmas(y)
3. When do you put up the tree? Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving but this year was a lil bit late since we had to wait for the snow to dry off the tree in the garage for a few days..
4. When do you take the tree down? Hmm I guess whenever I feel like it needs to go, probably during the first week of the new year
5. Do you like eggnog? occasionally.. depends on my mood
6. Favorite gift received as a child? hmmm I cant really pinpoint at ONE present.. My sister and I got a trampoline one year and we were pretty excited about that.. My sister slept on the couch the night before Christmas so she can see what was under the tree, she saw the trampoline in the early wee hours of Christmas morning and started jumping up and down and screaming in excitement... I'm sure that was an interesting wake up call for mom and dad.. :) Oh yea, i just remembered! My cross diamond ring, I dont wear it anymore but I'll always keep that! My sister, just recently, asked if she can have/wear it for a while.. Heck no!!
8. Easiest person to buy for? my kids
9. Do You have a nativity scene? I don't! :(
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail but I did email a few this year
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? umm oh yea, this monkey i was scared of for years! I swore I heard it talk as I opened it, and ran away and my mom followed me into a corner with the monkey at Gma's house on Christmas Eve.. we have a picture of it that will explain it all.. Obviously they had no idea what was running through my mind..
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I dont have one
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually after Thanksgiving but next year I'm starting in July!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm sure I have!
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Dont really have a favorite.. My grandmas homemade apple pie is yummy but i dont eat it anymore til after I discover what she does with the apples before putting it in the pie.. she cooks it in the microwave... that just ruins it all for me! :(
16. Lights on the tree? This year is white and blue lights.. Next year will probably be just white as we are going to do a new color theme..
17. Favorite Christmas song? Dont have one..
18. Travel for Christmas or stay home? Well everyone is here in town, except for a few of Alex's grandparents thats out of town but i'd love to travel out of state for Christmas.. maybe WE can move out of state and come home for Christmas?? Unfortunately, Alex is not up to moving out of state/town.. I brought it up a few times recently.. I wont win that one for a while..
19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeers? Umm Rudolph, Dasher, Prancer(?), ummm.. I dunno! Nope, guess I cant!
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Eve with my extended family, parents and sister and morning with my kids and hubby and with hubby's family..
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? All the projects/wrapping/shopping to do at the last minute.. Like i said, i'm starting in July next year!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Its been blue and silver for the past 3 years but next Christmas will be different.. Just for a change......
24. Favorite Christmas dinner? Dont have one.. My gma makes chili and oyster soup every year, I never liked chili til last year when I was pregnant with Kylie. Oyster soup, i will never touch!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? well I've already got my mixer.. Hmm probably gift cards so I can get what i want.. Which is new clothes, stuff for my hobbies/DIY projects, a few things here and there that I could benefit from..

House and Prayers

I keep thinking about our future home and the land that i want hasn't sold yet.. I'm starting to wonder if that land is meant to be for us.. :) I seriously thought it'd be sold by now.. its at a perfect location(in my opinion; still waiting on God's opinion or if he has something better for us).. its exactly what i want.. on the west side of town, on paved road and just right outside of city limit.. I asked Alex if we qualify for a loan, he is not sure, but I'm seriously considering it even more now.. I have been praying for direction/guidance.. I needed Him to lead/tell us what we should do.. I'm still not sure what His answer is but I've been sitting back patiently and waiting for something to happen.. Over the weekend when Alex was with his brother Ben, Alex came home telling me about something else he wants to do with our dream house, i think its a great idea and it gets us excited thinking about our future home. We talked about it on our way to and from Des Moines last night, not sure if we've ever been this serious about building a house before. Maybe b/c its more possible now after Alex's unexpected pay raise. We are taking this one day at a time and see where each day takes us as our house keeps getting smaller and smaller on us but surprisingly I don't complain as much as I used to.. maybe my patience will pay itself off.. :)

BUT no more kids(unless God decides to use His sense of humor and surprise us) til we have a bigger place, I'd love to have our dream home done before I have the next child so I can birth the rest of our kids in our permanent home. The less children, the easier it is to get your dream home! Right??

As I typed this, i glanced over to our parent prayer flip book sitting at the computer, here is what it says and this is for the day of Jan. 24th.. lol not sure why the date is way off.. :)

"Through His Word, God guides us, speaks to us, and reminds us He is faithful. In that way, He builds faith in our hearts and enables us to understand His heart. This helps us to pray boldly in faith, knowing exactly what His truth, His will, and our authority."

Just what I needed to hear/read.. :)

Video of Carson and Kylie

..i love my husband..

I think he enjoys spoiling me.. He carried that tradition down from my dad.. ;) I'm fine with it!! AND I must say thankful for some wonderful men(dad, alex and carson) in my life too..

I've been thinking how nice it would to have one of these... and I finally got one! Alex decided to give me my Christmas present early this year since he cant handle the wait and he got an awesome deal on it so he couldn't pass it up.. Good job Alex!!!!

On A Mission

like always! Today I am hoping to get STUFF done.. Yesterday and the day before that I had a cranky baby who wouldn't settle for her bouncer or playing with her turtle mat so she was held almost the whole time except during nap time. Which reminds me, I either need a new sling or make one. The one I have now made a trip in the washer so I was without a sling for a few hours and Miss Kylie sure gets heavy after holding her for a while.. She is already in the 17-18lb range, I will have to weigh her soon to be more exact on the numbers.

I have:
*diapers to cut/assemble... need to start saving $$ around here so doing cloth diapers again will help save money.
*wrap presents, i haven't even started!! *sigh* any helpers??
*vacuum the floor(first go get my vacuum from dads house)
*work on some Christmas projects which I cant announce on here.. :)
*Get the perfect picture taken for Christmas cards..
*Do some more Christmas shopping

All I'm doing is overwhelming myself by listing off what I need to do, feels like crunch time, well it pretty much is when you have to balance your time out between kids/housework/me-time to do projects.. So what am I doing on here?! I dunno..

Just to let ya know......

I will miss reading your blogs out there.. We are currently staying at my dads house as Alex and the plumber get the sewer stuff taken care at home.. Sucks that we cant stay at home.. Alex says to air the house out for a week, i think i'll be changing that week down to a few days.. We'll see!! Pray for us as we get it all taken care of and pray that we will survive our stay at dads house. Dad is currently out on a business trip, but its the whole not around MY stuff, nor at MY house. I'll miss everything at my house! No internet at dads house so I'll be MIA for a few days, unless I make another trip to my sister's house..

So text me instead of emailing me.. I hope to get to some sewing while I'm at dads house.. Also plan on keeping myself busy with other stuff...

Leg Warmers

I got to sew 2 pairs of leg warmers today!! They are so easy to make! They look a little bit silly on Carson but they are great for the days when we don't leave the house AND for under his pants on the cold days. I was happy to get SOME sewing done today, still have quite a bit of stuff I'd love to sew..

I also wanted to note on the previous post.. It wasn't a complain post/blog. As much as I love being a mom, I do have those days when I wonder if I'll ever get a break and finish a project. Its much easier to read blogs over a D.I.Y project, since the kids can sit on my lap while I read and TRY to type too.. But don't get me wrong, I love being a mom and love my kids very much, I'm proud to be their mom.

As you noticed on the picture above, Kylie can now sit(not straight up, more of a 45° angle) on her own with support(pillows around her), today was the first time without any support and she sat like that for about a minute or so! Getting so big! She can also roll.. *sigh* Sometimes I just wish my babies can just stay little!!

oh yea, cant you tell that Carson and Kylie look alike!?! That's why I have that picture(2nd pic down) up of them.. Can't tell me they don't look like brother and sisters!

Battery-Operated Mom

Ever feel like you are on the go all day long? Ever feel like you are ready to crash during the evenings and know you cant yet b/c you still have kids to take care of and cook supper/clean up? Sleep time is when you are recharging your batteries and then when you wake up with either fully or half charged batteries in the morning, and back to the same thing, on the go all day long tending to your kids and house.

This is exactly how i feel!!! Battery-Operated Mom
All I want to do is SEW.. Been wanting to get to it since Sunday and haven't even got to touch the sewing machine yet.. During my free time at late night, I'm too tired to do anything except SIT comfortably and watch TV. *sigh* I hope to find free time soon to do some sewing when I'm not tired..

And in case if you are wondering, yes, my husband does help me when he's home. He is actually is a great help around here, something I'm thankful for!

Note: I ate my breakfast as I typed this, so no, blogging wasn't really my free time.. And Carson is sitting behind me coloring and saying.. "Mommy, sit here!" as he pats the floor showing me where to sit.

Have a good snowy day!!

Crazy Goals

Me:
Hey, you know what I wanna do before I die?
Alex: Umm, catch up with my parents??
Me: (insert sarcastic laugh) ha.ha.ha.....
Me: No, be in the demolition derby and fly somewhere..
Alex: You've never flown anywhere?
Me: Well, yes and no, mom and dad got a plane for the day and we just flew around but I was too little to realize i was flying, i remember it, but didn't have any fears. I want to fly somewhere to overcome that fear of flying.

Then Alex goes on talking about how he wants to go gliding in a glider.. That I wont even bother with!

I hope to accomplish those goals in the next 2-5 years. I hope to get my sister and cousins together for the derby's, i know they would LOVE that! Even my mom would do it if she didn't have back problems, and I'm sure a few aunts would love to do it as well. We are all the crazy adventurous type of girls, except I've REALLY mellowed out after I've had kids, I'm kinda scared to do some stuff that I used to be able to do before kids, I think its the thought of a freak accident happening and leaving my kids behind, not worth it! However, the derby is still on my list!

Anyone have any 'crazy' goals set for themselves that you want to accomplish? Of course I have other goals but the 2 listed above are the most craziest goals I have. Yes, flying is in my "crazy" category, it scares me! Its the whole, not having any control of the airplane and being WAY up in the air and so on....
