Money Saving...

We've spent too much money on the monthly bills and a few things we didn't want to pay for we had to pay this month that leaves us running low but it did make me think of more ways to start saving money.

*Get my sewing machine oiled and sew cloth diapers.. I feel guilty buying disposable diapers for several reasons.. 1.) it cost $ and then it gets thrown away when its soiled. 2) I HAVE the stuff here laying around to make diapers, only if my sewing machine would stop acting up on me. 3.) Disposables is loaded with chemical crap and not as comfortable as cotton on the bum.

*Make my own laundry soap!! For some reason, I'm excited about that part.. Have to order the bar soap first

*Make my own taco seasoning.. (the .$50 cent/pack adds up on the grocery bill)

*Grate my own cheese

*Only order out(ordering pizza, eating out, ordering food from tasos) once a month or less

*Save a portion of money each month... (what money!?)

*get rid of debt so we CAN SAVE money for our future home and for our 'need-new-clothes' shopping spurts for kids, Alex and i.....if you are wondering, sewing our clothes is not an option.. I have no patience for that.. The kids leg warmers and Kylie's diaper is an exception, and all the FUN stuff..

Anyone have a good tip/idea? I'm still brainstorming here.. Please help me out here! Theres gotta be more than what I've got listed above..

Getting rid of cable is an option but Alex wont budge on that one.. Also I wont budge on getting rid of internet.. The internet is my social life.. :)

i'll bring the oil over.. i meant to give you some... I'm off to zumba tonight! :) better see if my clothes are dry!

for the laundry soap... try using some cheap ivory from walmart! it works just as well and is way less expensive! :D

well that should help you save a few bucks....

Traci did the Ivory soap and it caused waxy build up on clothes...that was the problem with the diapers.. Pretty sure it was the Ivory soap... Right Traci?
I was hoping that the soap from Frontier wont do it. *hmmm*

Yeah the ivory bar soap left a wax build up on diapers and clothes. I washed them in vinegar a time or two and it fixed it. I think homemade soap would work well, do you have stuff left over from wedding? You could use that.
Some little things we do or try to do....
Coupons - sometimes even google the product and you can find good coupons.
Barter stuff on craig's list you might have something someone wants and you could trade it for something they have that you want or $$.
Call your credit cards if ya have any and see if they can work with you on reducing the interest rate. It will save a little bit too.

Our biggest biggest money saver EVER is making a menu for the week for meals. We have a budget for it too. Then we don't buy things we don't need or won't even eat that week. It's really simple to do just takes an extra 10-15minutes before going to the store and cuts your bill down a 1/3 or 1/2.

I didn't even think of the soap, but i just now remembered that we used shortening when we made the soap and not sure if i want that on my clothes? :S
I forgot all about coupons! i need to get better at that.. AND need to do better at planning weekly meals.. Those are good tips! Going to look for coupons.. we were getting coupons for the organic milk but i guess you can only get it up to 3 times.. it wont even let me print it off under my email or alexs.. It helped.. $1 off milk!
There are a few things i wouldnt mind selling on craigslist.. who knows if it'll sell!
